 Have you ever tasted malavni cuisine? 
Cuisine is nothing but a style or a manner of preparing food.Cuisine are of different types.They are mainly categorized as Global cuisine & Regional Cuisine.The Global cuisine is the food prepared in the world whereas the Regional cuisine  practiced in the nation, state or local regions. 
                   One of finest cuisine in India which is practiced in southern part of state of Maharashtra i.e.,  in Konkan region which is nothing but the Malvani cuisine.Malvani cuisine is delicious cuisine comprises of both veg and non-veg food.But mostly the Seafood.
As we belong from kokan ,we have a foodgasm for Malvani food.
In.the wake of covid pandemic
During that time we really want to spend few days at our native place but , our schedule doesn't allowed us to go .
But later on as the situation is improving, and covid restrictions relaxed ,we went konkan to meet our loved ones .
Although we belong from konkan,we live in Mumbai (mumbai -suburban)
Well here, there are plenty of Restaurants ,Dhabas  offering non-veg food especially Malvani -konkani cuisine.
But the true konkani person is one who always crave for the food which his mother or grandmother who is living in his village,cooks for him when he visits his village after lots of days .The mother's love fused in the food which she prepares enhances the overall attributes of the meal.
In this blog ,we are going to discuss about ''Chicken Thali'' -a dish which amazing part authentic Malvani Cuisine.


  •  Kombdivade:-
One of the most significant part of Malvani Chicken Thali is the ''komdivade''
Or malvani vade  (fluffy fried dumplings made of rice flour, and occasionally of wheat and Ragi flour also grated cucumber is added in that flour for flavour and aroma)
On various occasions in konkan such as "Gatahari  also called (Deep Amavasya)" "Gauri Ovase", "Dev Diwali" and "Shimga" in Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts of Konkan. Generally this dish is available cooked throughout the year in each every house of these coastal area.

Malvani Chicken Rassa:-

Malvani Chicken rassa or curry is a very popular flavourful dish in malvani Cuisine.

It is usually serve with komdivade.

People do have it with Bhakari or Chapati.

Coconut is used extensively in Malvani cuisine Also spices like black peppercorns, dry red chilies, coriander seeds, etc. are used.

Malvani chiken sukkha:-

Chicken sukka is a dry meal with very little gravy from coastal western India. Malvani cuisine is named after Malvan, a town on Maharashtra’s west coast in the Sindhudurg district.  Normally,Boneless chicken is used to prepare this dish.


''Chulivarcha chicken" - has a different yet delicious taste and mostly their all konkani villages.

Chicken cooked on the ''chul" has slightly different taste than the chicken cooked on Gas.






Solkadhi:-

One of most energetic part of Chicken Thali.

Solkadhi can be consumed as an appetizer before meals, with rice during meals and as a digestive post meal. Popular in the coastal regions of Maharashtra and Goa, it is made with kokums and coconut milk. “Sol” is also known as kokum in Marathi. Indian summer is intensive and can leave one feeling drained and sluggish.

Solkadhi is prepared with liquid extract of fresh coconut known as coconut milk.The coconut milk so obtained is usually mixed with agal or kokum, a little bit of salt, mustard seeds and/or chili-garlic paste is added for taste and enhancing the probiotic contents.


All over opinion:-

The food patterns of konkan have their regional 

peculiarities pertaining to the cuisine distinguishing them from 

the general pattern of Maharashtra.

There are lots of others recipes both spicy and sweet has special place in hearts of konkani people.

One must visit konkan to taste these authentic Malvani cuisine
